They blamed the Libyans, imposed sanctions on that country bombed the hell out of it, sunk half of their navy and their personal (I suppose they are not human beings because they are only Libyans or Arabs) and demonised them there after. BUT what's this I hear is happening in the World Court in Hague just recently? How come the finger is being firmly pointed towards a botched up CIA operation which is more clearly exposed by a TV documentary called "Maltese Connection"??

After a mock judgment and a big amount of money extorted from Libya many former British/Scottish police and prosecution witnesses are talking about planting evidence and cover ups!

Therefore trying to be educated is worthless!

Dummying down the education system is a very important tool for the ‘boss’ who would like to exploit the mass! To achieve that goal, ‘boss’ controls the media (thought process), educational institutions (schools), opium of the masses (pulpit), lobby groups (power of the lever) etc. etc.

Please examine the followings with an open mind:
1. Iraq Was Invaded to Secure Israel
2. Iraq pullout would hurt Israel
3. Oil, Israel and Iraq
4. Israelis control America

Because of one little illegal and immoral state like Israel, which got no similarities with USA, it’s constitution, way of life or anything; the USA have been fighting and dying like dogs, sacrificing economy, prestige, moral standing, security, etc. etc. Today, it is impossible to conduct a rational debate about Israel in the USA!

No, that is not the reason for American's lack of education at the present. When I was a kid in school, the Texas educational system was excellent, and we were taught the Native American Indian culture, and were well educated in many subjects that are not offered at present day American schools. For example, the subject of World Geography is no longer taught in most American elementary schools. I'm beginning to think American History and Government are no longer stressed in elementary schools.

I do not know why American standards have become so lowered.

It seems that young Americans at present are only interested in computers, cell phones, and cars.

22/04/08 "New York Times" -- -- We don't hear a great deal about education in the presidential campaign. It's much too serious a topic to compete with such fun stuff as Hillary tossing back a shot of whiskey, or Barack rolling a gutter ball.

The nation's future may depend on how well we educate the current and future generations, but (like the renovation of the nation's infrastructure, or a serious search for better sources of energy) that can wait. At the moment, no one seems to have the will to engage any of the most serious challenges facing the U.S.

An American kid drops out of high school every 26 seconds. That's more than a million every year, a sign of big trouble for these largely clueless youngsters in an era in which a college education is crucial to maintaining a middle-class quality of life — and for the country as a whole in a world that is becoming more hotly competitive every day.

Ignorance in the United States is not just bliss, it's widespread. A recent survey of teenagers by the education advocacy group Common Core found that a quarter could not identify Adolf Hitler, a third did not know that the Bill of Rights guaranteed freedom of speech and religion, and fewer than half knew that the Civil War took place between 1850 and 1900.

"We have one of the highest dropout rates in the industrialized world," said Allan Golston, the president of U.S. programs for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In a discussion over lunch recently he described the situation as "actually pretty scary, alarming."

Roughly a third of all American high school students drop out. Another third graduate but are not prepared for the next stage of life — either productive work or some form of post-secondary education.

When two-thirds of all teenagers old enough to graduate from high school are incapable of mastering college-level work, the nation is doing something awfully wrong.

Mr. Golston noted that the performance of American students, when compared with their peers in other countries, tends to grow increasingly dismal as they move through the higher grades:

"In math and science, for example, our fourth graders are among the top students globally. By roughly eighth grade, they're in the middle of the pack. And by the 12th grade, U.S. students are scoring generally near the bottom of all industrialized countries."

Many students get a first-rate education in the public schools, but they represent too small a fraction of the whole.

Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, offered a brutal critique of the nation's high schools a few years ago, describing them as "obsolete" and saying, "When I compare our high schools with what I see when I'm traveling abroad, I am terrified for our work force of tomorrow."

Said Mr. Gates: "By obsolete, I don't just mean that they are broken, flawed or underfunded, though a case could be made for every one of those points. By obsolete, I mean our high schools — even when they're working as designed — cannot teach all our students what they need to know today."

The Educational Testing Service, in a report titled "America's Perfect Storm," cited three powerful forces that are affecting the quality of life for millions of Americans and already shaping the nation's future. They are:

• The wide disparity in the literacy and math skills of both the school-age and adult populations. These skills, which play such a tremendous role in the lives of individuals and families, vary widely across racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups.

• The "seismic changes" in the U.S. economy that have resulted from globalization, technological advances, shifts in the relationship of labor and capital, and other developments.

• Sweeping demographic changes. By 2030, the U.S. population is expected to reach 360 million. That population will be older and substantially more diverse, with immigration having a big impact on both the population as a whole and the work force.

These and so many other issues of crucial national importance require an educated populace if they are to be dealt with effectively. At the moment we are not even coming close to equipping the population with the intellectual tools that are needed.

While we're effectively standing in place, other nations are catching up and passing us when it comes to educational achievement. You have to be pretty dopey not to see the implications of that.

But, then, some of us are pretty dopey. In the Common Core survey, nearly 20 percent of respondents did not know who the U.S. fought in World War II. Eleven percent thought that Dwight Eisenhower was the president forced from office by the Watergate scandal. Another 11 percent thought it was Harry Truman.

After the debate couple of young ladies said, "we know you, we saw you in many rallies, do you mind if we take some photos with you and your famous T-shirt". I had a chuckle with them and they took some photos.

Some people who were `scared' of me because of my T-Shirt or look prior to the debate asked me for my fliers and I gave them until they finished.

However, prior to the meeting some predictable people complained to the security about my pole/bumper stickers, "Free Palestine" and "Stop Genocide in Iraq". They were ignored.

Some people complained about my existence at the door of the Sydney Recital Hall. They too, have not had enough luck. Some of them refused to take my fliers and look at me with contempt. Yet, I maintained civility with them.

A few of them came and told me, "your materials are disgusting". I said, "according to your opinion". The reply was, "it is a fact". My response was, "based on what evidence". After a few exchanges, I said, "what Daniel Pipes preaches and practices are really disgusting, not my arguments because they are based on facts. One said, "you should not be allowed here in the first place". One shouted, "you are smiling like an innocent baby while distributing offensive materials and wearing a disgusting T-Shirt". I said, "where is the free speech and do you believe in selective free speech only"? They too, complained to the security and management without any luck.

I said to myself, during the Howard period we were gradually loosing free speech and democracy, dummying down education, `children over board' and `truth over board' overtook free press and publications, public servants were muzzled and bullied into submission!

Under Kevin Rudd may be we are going to regain them now.

Oh, I did not have a ticket for the venue. During my adventure I went inside to get a ticket without any success. Anyway, I continued my mission. At one stage I noticed a nice person was hanging around me. I asked him, "do I know you". His reply was, "I know you from the Politics in the Pub … ". Naturally, we continued to discus a few issues. At one stage he said, "I love to talk to you but I got a small problem". I said, "what is it"? His response was, "I've got four tickets but one of my friend is not coming and I have to offload one". I laughingly said, "your problem is my problem and please give me that ticket'. Yes, he gave me the ticket for half of the actual price while the 1200 seat venue had many powerful standby buyers.

Well, next time if I see this journalist bugger, I'll shout him a nice cuppa.

I don't quite understand what you are trying to say but I see you are frustrated and I am sorry for that. Maybe one day you will find a friend who is of the religion you are against and you will see that person is very much like you. They have hopes and dreams, families and mothers who love them.

We are all people. We should get along. Let us put religion aside even for just a short time and try to see each other as human beings. Will you try to do that?

MP 'defending Australia' against Muslim school

Christian Democrats MP Reverend Fred Nile says he is trying to protect Australia's future by opposing the construction of an Islamic school in Sydney's south-west.

The Quranic Society has lodged a $19 million development application for a 1,200-place school at Camden, sparking outrage among many locals.

More than 1,000 people flocked to a community meeting about the school in Camden on Wednesday night, with the riot police called in to control the large number present.

Rev Nile gave a speech about Islam's opposition to Christianity, telling the meeting some Muslim schools overseas had produced terrorists.

The state MP has today rejected criticism from Quranic Society spokesman Jeremy Bingham, who said yesterday "overzealous" Christians needed to remember the crusades were over.
"It's no good putting your head in the sand as they've done in the UK, France and Holland," Rev Nile said.

"Now they have massive social problems [and] I don't want to see those problems in Australia.
"They may not occur, they won't be occurring tomorrow, but they may.

"We may be discussing this on the ABC in 2010 [or] 2020, when people are throwing up their hands saying, 'How did we allow this situation to develop?'"


Christmas concerns
Rev Nile says he is concerned about the Islamic attitude towards Christmas.
"Let's celebrate Christmas and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, which is condemned in the Koran, which is a textbook of Muslim schools," he said.

"The textbook says anyone who serves Jesus Christ, the son of God, is a corrupt or perverted unbeliever, 'God assail them'. That's my concern."

Both Islamic and Christian groups say they do not support Rev Nile's comments.
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils says his interpretation of the Koran and Christmas is completely wrong.

Council president Ikebal Patel says Jesus is a prophet of Islam, and Muslims in Australia do enjoy and celebrate the Christmas period.

"In Islam, Christmas is a time for relaxing with family, for exchanging gifts," he said.

"It's also a time when you really reflect on the past year and I think its a time when you take your children into the shopping mall and have Santa put them on their laps and you take photos."

Mr. Patel has invited Rev Nile to have a coffee with him and learn more about Islam.

Uniting Church president Reverend Gregor Henderson meanwhile says Rev Nile is bordering on religious extremism.

"I think Fred is running the danger of inciting prejudice and distress in the community when there is no need for such fear," he said.

Camden Mayor Chris Patterson says the council expects to make a decision on the school by March next year.

Councillor Patterson says more than 3,000 public submissions have been received opposing the school, many covering concerns about traffic and potential overdevelopment of the site.
But he says a small amount voiced racial and religious opposition.

Grandma - I have always wondered about this. Somehow, to me the western approach on this issue looks hypocritic.

On one hand I see, people screaming about holocast, 6 million Jews dead. After hearing them, it looks like as if Jews were worshipped in Europe before hitler and after hitler.
